X Algorithm Simulator

Compare the actions X's published For You ranker weights most heavily. The score is an estimate of relative signal strength, not a reach forecast.

Expected actions

Reply 5.0, like 0.5, repost 1.0, quote 5.0. Media adds dwell 0.05, plus photo expand 0.05 or video open 0.07. Likelihood levels are illustrative. They are not X's predicted probabilities.

Published For You note

Replies are weighted far more heavily than likes (5.0 versus 0.5). Replying under your own post is still worth doing. X does not publish a multiplier for author replies.

How to read the estimate in 4 steps

  1. 1

    Open the simulator

Visit this page. No account required. The simulator loads in your browser.

  2. 2

    Set expected actions

Choose how likely readers are to reply, like, repost, or quote, and pick a media type.

  3. 3

    Note links and Premium

Those choices update the guidance. They do not change the estimate, because X does not publish those numbers.

  4. 4

    Read the estimate

The breakdown is an illustration of published weights, not a reach forecast.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the X (Twitter) recommendation algorithm work?
X's published For You ranker scores a post by weighting the predicted probability of each action. It does not multiply raw engagement counts. A reply is weighted 5.0 and a like is 0.5, so replies are weighted far more heavily than likes. A repost is 1.0, a quote is 5.0, and a follow is 4.0. Profile clicks are weighted 0.0. Dwell is 0.05 and a video open is 0.07. Strong negative weights are report -234, mute author -58.8, not interested -43.2, and block author -31.2. Do external links hurt reach on X?
Posts with external links often get less reach, so test. X's published For You ranking code has no link-penalty percentage. Opening a link has a small positive weight (0.2) on the predicted probability of that action, which is not a penalty for including a link. Putting the link in a reply is a practical test, not a published bypass.
What X algorithm factors increase tweet reach the most?
Among the published positive weights, a copy-link share is 20.0, a reply from someone you follow back adds 15.0 to the reply weight, and replies, quotes, and DM shares are each 5.0. Likes are 0.5. Dwell (0.05) and video opens (0.07) are much smaller. These weights apply to predicted probabilities, not raw counts. The file does not list a bookmark weight or a Premium multiplier. Source: github.com/xai-org/x-algorithm, home-mixer/params/param.rs, checked 26 Sep 2026. Each weight multiplies the predicted probability of that action, not a raw count.
Is the X algorithm simulator accurate?
The score is an estimate. It applies the published reply, like, repost, quote, and media weights to the likelihoods you select, then scales that relative total to 1,000. It is not X's live ranker. Link placement and Premium do not change the number, because the published code has no link-penalty percentage and no Premium multiplier.

How to use this tool

  1. Open the simulator. Visit golamkabir.com/tools/x-algorithm-simulator. No account required.
  2. Set expected actions. Choose how likely readers are to reply, like, repost, or quote, and pick a media type. These map to published For You weights.
  3. Note links and Premium. Note whether the post has an external link and whether the account has Premium. Those choices update the guidance. They do not change the estimate, because X does not publish those numbers.
  4. Read the estimate. Read the relative weight estimate and the breakdown. The result is an illustration of published weights, not a reach forecast.
